Cape Coral Canals and Bridges

Looking to explore the Gulf or the Caloosahatchee River, here are some tips and maps around the River that allow you to make it to the gulf with all the information you need such as bridge heights, and canal routes.

The Cape Coral’s bridges heights tend to range from 7 ft to 13.25 ft clearance. Each of the maps show the heights at the maximum water level which allows there to be more clearance.

Chiquita Boat Lock

The Chiquita Lock, also known as the Spreader Canal Lock, is located between Cape Coral Parkway and the Veterans Highway in SW Cape Coral.  To get there by boat, it is around 2.75 miles from the Sanibel Causeway Bridge. This is the area’s main and largest lock, which provides gulf access into the ICW via the Caloosahatchee River. The lock leads to the Spreader Canal System, protected wetlands and many of the Cape Coral area’s waterfront homes.

The Chiquita Lock is open from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. and can accommodate boats up to 19’ x 80’. Prior to arrival, call the lock operator ½ hour prior at 239-542-5661
